This is a picture of my mom on her First Communion Day with her brother who was 12 years older than her. They were very close and they're parents' were very ill and died at young ages. Her brother was not only an older brother but a friend and father figure. He died 3 years ago and she misses him so much. I miss him a great deal also. I thought this picture would be great for a flashback because of the history they shared, the history my uncle and I shared, as we became very close too. My mom was such a little cutie here and my uncle was so handsome. Another interesting fact about this photo is that it was taken in the backyard of a housing complex about a block and a half from where my mom lived. The ironic part is that the man she would marry later on in life, my dad lived there at the same time she was taking that photo and did until they married.

How interesting! Little did your mom and dad know at the time. What a special memory for you and your mom. It's so good that she had an older brother to look up to and who watched over her.

ReplyDeleteBut, I did enjoy reading what you wrote. HOw funny that your parents lived so close growing up, and what a blessing to have had a brother like that!
