D is for Daddy

D is for my Daddy!! Today was his birthday. He turned 74 years young. This past Sunday we the whole family celebrated his birthday because it was more convenient for everyone who works during the week. I called him this morning to wish him a Happy Birthday and after we hung up I kept thinking about him. I decided at the last minute to pack up the kids and go visit him for his birthday. I felt like I just had to see him and so I did. When we got there, he was just sitting on a bench next to a few of his friends, it was actually kind of sad for me to see that. My kids walked over to him and he was so surprised and a big smile appeared on his face. He was so happy he hugged the kids. My father is not the type to express much emotion but his happiness was very noticeable today. We all spent a nice afternoon together and I'm so glad that I was able to do something for him on his special day.

With my father being the age he is and with some personal issues that I am experiencing right now, I have realized how very important he is to me, how much I love him and how much I need him in my life. None of us know how much time we have left in this life so I want to cherish every moment I can with him.
